Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is the TruckX ELD One FMCSA-approved?
Yes, TruckX ELD One is an FMCSA-Approved ELD. It is compliant with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation 49 CFR, 395.22 – 395.36 Subpart B regarding a driver’s record of duty status.
I am exempt from the ELD rule. Can I use the standalone TruckX ELD One Driver App?
Yes, the standalone TruckX ELD One Driver App is compliant with FMCSA rule 395.8(a)(iii). When used without the TruckX ELD One hardware device, the TruckX ELD One Driver App provides a fully editable electronic logbook that replaces paper logs.
What vehicles are compatible with the TruckX ELD One hardware device?
The TruckX ELD One hardware device is compatible with all 6-, 9-, 14- and 16-Pin Vehicle OBD-II Connectors. The Electronic Logging Device (ELD) directly connects to any 16-Pin OBD-II, and TruckX ELD One provides a free complementary adapter cable for 6-, 9- and 14-Pin.
How does the TruckX ELD One hardware device automatically record driving time?
It automatically records driving time as soon as the vehicle is considered in motion. Per the FMCSA ELD mandate, when a driver is connected to the TruckX ELD One via their mobile App and the vehicle is moving faster than 5 MPH, Driving time is automatically recorded in their electronic logbook. As soon as the vehicle reaches a speed of 0 MPH, the TruckX ELD One Driver App automatically stops recording driving time.
Can I use the TruckX ELD One without mobile data?
Yes, the TruckX ELD One hardware device and Mobile App continue to function during temporary offline periods. While driving in areas without mobile network, the TruckX ELD One will continue to record in E-logbook data. It sends that data to the TruckX ELD One Driver App via Bluetooth where all logbook data gets stored locally. As soon as your mobile phone re-establishes internet connection, the data will be synced with the TruckX platform. However, drivers who use the ELD device under FMCSA ELD compliance regulation must ensure that they have an active internet connection on their mobile phone.
Does TruckX ELD One support Yard Move and Personal Conveyance?
Yes, the TruckX ELD One supports both Yard Move and Personal Conveyance statuses. While Personal Conveyance is selected, any driving time will be recorded as Off-Duty. What happens when driving in areas with no mobile network?
The TruckX ELD One hardware device and mobile App continue to function offline. While driving in areas without a mobile network, the TruckX ELD One will continue to record data in the E-log. It sends that data to the TruckX ELD One Driver App via Bluetooth, where all logbook data is stored locally. As soon as your mobile phone re-establishes an internet connection, the data will be synched with the TruckX platform.
What happens when a driver forgets to connect to their TruckX ELD One hardware device before driving?
The TruckX ELD One will continue to record driving data and issue an Unidentified Driving Event. When the vehicle is set into motion without a driver being connected to the TruckX ELD One hardware device, it will continue to record all driving time and store that data locally. Once any driver reconnects to the TruckX ELD One device, that data will be synched with the TruckX ELD One Platform. The TruckX ELD One AI Algorithm will automatically identify the likely driver and prompt them to either accept or reject the unidentified driving event.
What data transfer modes are available during DOT inspections?
The TruckX ELD One supports both FMCSA-mandated transfer modes: Web Services and Email. In addition, it also allows you to print or email the last 7 days’ logs to a particular email address.
How do the TruckX ELD One Driver App and hardware device differ?
The standalone TruckX ELD One Driver App is a fully editable electronic logbook, while the TruckX ELD One device automatically records driving time that cannot be edited. When used without the TruckX ELD One hardware device, the TruckX ELD One Driver App provides a fully editable E-logbook that replaces paper logs compliant with FMCSA rule 395.8(a)(iii). The TruckX ELD One hardware device physically connects to the vehicle’s diagnostic port as well as electronically connects to the TruckX ELD One Driver App via Bluetooth, compliant with FMCSA rule 49 CFR, 395.22 – 395.36. The driver is not able to edit driving time but can manage their Hours of Service in the TruckX ELD One Driver App.
Is it possible to make Logbook Edits?
Per FMCSA regulation, it is possible to edit non-driving duty statuses. A driver can edit non-driving events directly from the TruckX ELD One Driver App. As a Fleet Manager, you can suggest logbook edits via the TruckX Admin Account which will prompt the affected driver to either accept or reject the suggested edit.
What happens if I forgot to switch between Team Drivers?
It is possible to transfer the driving time to the correct team driver. If multiple drivers were logged into a driving session and forgot to switch to the correct active driver, the Fleet Manager can suggest a drive time transfer to the correct team driver via their Admin Account. Both affected drivers will be prompted to accept or reject the suggested edit.
